The sales of the iPhone in the last year have been phenomenal and with the extension to 10 more countries it is expected that the high sales numbers will increase. Apple has been questions about their approach to delivering the iPhone to a couple of countries first. Part of this will of course create an even bigger hype once it is finally launched, but a source in Apple said that they simply can’t keep production in line with demand. And their goal at the start was to make sure that they can supply the US market first and then take it from there.

Countries with the iPhone

United States of America

Great Britain

France

New Countries getting the iPhone via Vodfone

Countries getting the iPhone

This roll out has been longer than expected, and in the past months Apples share price has had a high volatility. Last month Apple’s iTunes surpassed WallMart as the top music seller in the US

It has been developed by Int13, a French mobile game developer. The game itself looks very much like a watered down version of mario kart, but still it’s very entertaining. Check the video:

iPhone Car Game Features

Large enough screen size 320 by 320 pixels playing area

Touch sensitive controls, for the steering wheel. Touch free controls also possible, in the future via the tilt monitors on the phone.

3 different vehicle classes (motorcycles, hovercrafts and karts).

6 different characters with different vehicles and skills.

Downloadable content (new vehicles, new tracks) available from the retailer.

Wifi online multiplayer with match making and up to four simultaneous players at once.

Once Apple release the SDK (software developers kit) for the iPhone I’m sure there will be a rush of games and applications for the iPhone. It will almost be a whole year since they launched the phone, until they could launch the SDK.

A story from BusinessWeek suggests that because the apple iPhone is starting to sell out in some Apple Stores, that it’s possible the new version is soon on the way. If stocks are lowering and they are not being replaced, one reason could be that Apple are not giving their stores iPhones v1 because v2 is soon to be on the way. It is also possible that there maybe be a lack of iPhones being manufactured, due to some manufacturing problems.

So there we have it, are they stopping producing the iPhone v1 in order to build up stocks of the newer version. With up to 20 US Apple Stores sold out of the iPhone, and no known date for a restock it has to be looking this way. Bring on the 3G iPhone !

Often people have been asking what the iPhone second version will look like. Already this year we’ve seen the iTouch increasing in size options, and now you can get the 32 Gigabyte version. Currently the iPhone only ships with 8GB or 16GB. So the iPhone version 1.5 will at least contain more storage space. In the 2nd round of things we are predicting that the iPhone will decrease in size (weight/thickness and dimensions) and that they will finally add the faster 3G network capability.

We also expect that the display will be at a higher resolution, so that images/movies and internet browsing is easier on your eyes. Granted these are just our predictions and you can never know what Apple will have up.

iPhone V2 Features

Screen size 3.5 inches

Screen resolution 320 by 480 pixels (163 ppi)

Input method Multi-touch

Operating system OS X

Storage 16GB / 32GB

GSM Quad-band (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz)

Camera 2.5 megapixels (higher quality)

Wireless data Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) / EDGE / Bluetooth 2.0+EDR / 3G

Battery* (increased)

Talk time: Up to 10 hours

Standby: Up to 300 hours

Internet use: Up to 10 hours

Video playback: Up to 9 hours

Audio playback: Up to 40 hours

Dimensions 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches / 115 x 61 x 11.6 mm

Weight 4.5 ounces / 120 grams (lighter)

You will know when the new iPhone comes on the market, because we won’t post a new blog post for quite a few weeks.

They have released newer versions of the software which is supposed to disable phones that have been hacked. These efforts have stopped the hacking elite in their tracks, but there are new rumors about new hacks being written as we speak. And now there is a further rumor, Smartoffice is reporting that Apple intends to announce the next Generation iPhone (version 2.0) at Macworld 2008. I’m sure it’s not coming as a big surprise to people. Not many details have emerged, yet, but those are sure to come. I wonder what Apple have instore on their new roadmap.

In a word, there is an estimated 250k Apple iPhones flying around the market. They just stated in their earnings call that out of 1.4 million iPhones sold since launch earlier this year, and that 250,000 are unlocked. They know this from subtracting the number of iPhones activated on AT&T from the number of iPhones sold total—which is 250k. That’s a normal legal number of unlocked phones, which matchs up with the 500,000 downloads of AnySIM 1.0 unlocker we’ve read. Those are official numbers from the iPhone Dev Team, which maunlock even with an active AT&T plan.

For those of you who purchased your iPhone before August 22 you can now apply for your store credit. All you have to do is go to this web site, enter the phone number and serial number of your phone (on the back of the iPhone), and submit. You will then get a text message from Apple with an access code, which is good for $100 towards anything that is carried by Apple, including third-party products.

The serial number is located at the bottom of the back of your iPhone (in case you are left looking for it).

About the iPhone Rebate

For those of you who don’t know why Apple is taking such measures, read on ! Earlier this month Steve Jobs shocked and angered many customers by dropping the 8 gigabyte iPhone’s price from $600 to $400 . This came 66 days after the product was first introduced and it was totally unexpected. There was many customers who felt blindsided by this measure, and vented their frustration on and off line. Steve Jobs came back and offered people a $100 voucher last week, in an effort to appease customers.

To find your iPhone Serial #

In iTunes 7 or later

Connect your iPod to your computer.

When your iPod appears in iTunes, select it.

Click the Summary tab, and your iPod’s serial number will display on screen.

One of the major criticisms of the iPhone was the lack of this feature initially. When asked why the current model didn’t have 3G, Jobs pointed the finger at power issues.

He said that the current 3G chipset would be too much of a drain on the unit’s battery life . And would cut into the promised 8 hours of call time. But Jobs promised future models would have the technology. And as for the next generations of iPhone v2 & v3 he said “We are working on the next iPhone already, the one after that and the one after that“.
